Free Grants Search

Despite often being a convoluted process, applying for a government grant, or even seeing if you're applicable for one, can be sped up by utilizing the various search methods to finds these free grants. Although it can be a laborious task, the rewards that can await you make it more than worthwhile.

The first, and possibly most obvious, method is to check with the agency that would be relevant to your application. For instance, if you're a student, then the first place you should try is the Department of Education's website, where you can learn about the various application processes. If, on the other hand, you need information about disaster grants, such as hurricane or other natural occurrences, then you may wish to look at free grant search facilities on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's website.

Some other websites you should investigate are:

* Department of Education Grants and Contracts Information

* Department of Justice

* Department of Housing and Urban Development

* Environmental Protection Agency

* Department of Transportation

* Stopping Violence Against Women and Community Oriented Policing Services

* National Institute of Health

As well as these various sources of information, the Department of Health and Human Services has over 300 other guides available to you, to help you in your free grants search.

Although this list is intensive itself, there are yet further information outlets that can help you, should the free grants details not be on any of these various websites. By going to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid website if you're a student, for instance, you can find out what types of student loans are available, housing cost aid, and many other benefits to help you afford the cost of study.

There is also the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, or CFDA, which enables both individuals as well as organizations to search for free grants. Not only is this a great place to start for anyone not familiar with how free grants work, but it also shows you how to decipher whether you can apply for specific grants or not.

The importance of making it as easy as possible for people to benefit from government aid was brought to the fore recently, when President Bush ordered a dedicated website to be set up to advise on all aspects of free grants. Intended more for normal citizens as opposed to businesses, it has been a huge success and helps to cut away the red tape that so many grants packages can entail.
